Hamilton officially opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on August 6, and we have a feeling it has secured its place in the frontrunners for quite a while. The show played to 100.66% capacity this past week, and with raves and much buzz, we expect the musical’s grosses to soar even higher in the near future. Additionally, Penn & Teller, which announced on August 7 that it had recouped its Broadway investment, took in over $1.4 million. The magic act disappears from the Marquis Theatre on August 16. Meanwhile, It Shoulda Been You concluded its Broadway run with its highest grossing week. After struggling to stay afloat in a palatial venue, On the Town announced that it will close on September 6. Meanwhile, Amazing Grace, after appearing at the bottom of the boards in terms of revenue and capacity, may need some divine intervention to remain open.
